Question
Dear here,
Most policies have a maximum payout of only $100,000 for a visitor aged 70-79. Is it possible to buy two or three separate policies from a couple of different companies to increase the maximum payout amount? What happens if you have two policies for the same person and they fall sick?

Answer
Actually most policies are provide coverage up to $50,000 for age 70-79.
Only Visitors Care, WorldMed and Diplomat Long Term provide $100,000 coverage for age 70-79. You can read about them at http://www.buyamericaninsurance.com/...al/visitor.jsp
That is the maximum coverage you get for age 70-79.
You can NOT combine 2 or 3 policies to get more coverage. Only one will pay.
Actually, you don't worry about it as $100,000 is quite adequate for most things.

Thanks for the useful information. I am inviting my in-laws who are in relatively good health but still worried about the max $100,000 coverage which will be applicable to my f-i-l who is in the 70-79 age group. Is there no legal way to obtain more coverage even if the premiums are higher? Visitor health insurance is not something I want to skimp on.

Answer
No, there is no other way.
$100,000 is the max you can get for 70-79 age.
That is not that bad considering that most domestic companies in US don't even offer insurance after age 65. (Because of Medicare)
