Please suggest a plan for a visitor with diabetes

Question
Hi All,
My parents are visiting us in USA in 2 weeks from now. My father has diabetes and he takes insulin regularly. Please advise me what type of medical plan I should take for him. He is 64.
Any help will be appreciated!

Answer
There is no visitor medical insurance plan from any company that will cover diabetes related expenses for visitors to USA.
Insurance will generally cover any new medical condition, sickness, injury or accident that may occur after the effective date of the insurance.
There are 2 types of plans:
Fixed Coverage: Cheaper, limited coverage. Look at http://www.buyamericaninsurance.com/...?section=fixed
Example: Visitors Care at http://www.buyamericaninsurance.com/...sitorscare.jsp
Comprehensive Coverage: More expensive, better coverage. Look at
http://www.buyamericaninsurance.com/...=comprehensive
Example: Protection America at http://www.buyamericaninsurance.com/...ionamerica.jsp or Atlas America at http://www.buyamericaninsurance.com/...lasamerica.jsp
If you visit http://www.buyamericaninsurance.com, you can enter the details about your relatives such as ages, duration you want, policy maximum. You will see several plans from different companies. You will see the prices for various deductibles. You can also compare the plans side by side and decide which one is best.
