I have read some threads about visitor insurance in this site.
I looked for instant quotes and all the american companies are costing around 750$ per person for 51/2 months stay.
is this a reasonable price. Are there any better indian insurance companies whose coverage is good and price is reasonable.
I am looking for comprehensive coverage with atleast 50K max.

That is a resonable price.
You are NOT going to get any other product that is significantly cheaper but provides same coverage. What you pay is what you get. As an insurance broker, we offer visitors medical insurance from all major companies that do such business in USA. And the prices from different companies are quite similar.
How old are you parents?
Did you know that insurance products from many Indian companies are fixed coverage plans for the age above 55? They are not comprehensive plans. Some companies don't even bother to write that in the brochure. It is only written in the policy wording which is a big document many people don't even read. This comes as a surprise when the claim occurs and people get paid only little.
