Question
Hi
I have checked the rateS & health insurace benefits provided by Tata to US Visitors . The rates & services provided look good.
Dos anyone has any experience about Tata-AIG ?
Regards
Rohan
Answer
It is better to buy from US based company rather than an Indian company.

Please note that Tata-AIG (and also ICICI Lombard, Bajaj Allianz etc.) are ONLY fixed coverage plans for age above 55 years. They are NOT comprehensive coverage plans.

I just received this email 5 minutes back:
-------------------------
I was looking at your website and wanted some advice. I had invited my parents to visit here and my dad had to undergo emergency surgery 10 days back.
The hospital bill is alone $91,000 and we still have to receive the physician bills etc.
He had purchased insurace thru TATA-AIG for $50,000. He is 70 years old.
Right now, we are stunned with what to do. I am trying to figure out our options and totally lost. AIG is saying they will cover only 10,000. Even if they cover the entire 50,000 we still have have a huge bill.
I am not sure what to do and some people are saying that I will be held liable since I have signed the affidavit of support for his visa documents.
I need advice abt few things, what are my options in terms of paying the bill? How to deal with the insurance companies? What are the liability issues I will face.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Uma
